Yes, Your Bootcamp Is Lying To You About Their Job Placement Rate
Are you really surprised by this?
Most recently, Lambda School was publicly shamed for making up employment statistics about their graduates.
Lambda School placed only 30% of its 2020 graduates in qualifying jobs during the first half of 2020. This figure is in stark contrast to the 74% placement rate it advertised for its 2019 graduate

Now, I’ve worked at a few bootcamps over the years, but you don’t need to have worked at one of these schools to understand the challenges that await recent graduates in the job market. Been on LinkedIn lately? How many articles will you read today from recent grads that haven’t been able to find a job in 3 months. 6 Months. 1 year! Or who have completely given up and gone back to their former career. It can be demoralizing to read through these stories as a developer on the job hunt.
I don’t want this to be all doom and gloom, however.
Yes, your bootcamp is likely using creative math to inflate their job placement numbers or outright lying like Lambda School.
